The coin is remarkable because of the high relief. The mint went to the limit of regular minting to create a relief which at some points reach a height of 1.5 mm. So it is really an Ultra High Relief. Since this term is nowadays used very inflationary among the coin business the company named it Ultra High Relief Plus. The coin’s obverse depicts a mother elephant with a children elephant walking across the African Savana. On top the inscription “Protection de la Nature” and “Elephant du Benin”. The issue date and the Silver weight and fineness are present in the coin obverse. The coin’s reverse depicts the coat of Arms the the Benin Republic and the face value. Benin Elephant The African Forest Elephant is the little brother of the more known Bush Elephant.
