ANTIOCHOS VI Dionysos 144BC Seleukid Ancient OLD Greek Coin ELEPHANT NGC i106743
Item: i106743 Authentic Ancient Coin of. Greek coin of Seleukid Kingdom. King: 144-141 B. Serrate Bronze 24mm Antioch on the Orontes mint Reference: Sear 7081; HGC 9, 1043; SC 2006 Certification: NGC Ancients. F 6156464-071 Head of Antiochos VI, as Dionysus, radiate and wreathed with ivy. ??????? ANTIOXOY /????????????????? , Elephant standing left, holding torch with trunk. Antiochus VI Dionysus ca. 148-142/1 BC, king of the Hellenistic Seleucid kingdom, was the son of Alexander Balas and Cleopatra Thea, daughter of Ptolemy VI of Egypt. Antiochus VI did not actually rule. Either already in 145 or in early 144 BC he was nominated by the general Diodotus Tryphon as heir to the throne in opposition to Demetrius II, and remained the general’s tool. 142/1 BC, the young king died. While some ancient authors make Diodotus Tryphon responsible for the death of the king, others write that he died during a surgery. The Seleucid Empire was a Hellenistic state ruled by the Seleucid dynasty founded by Seleucus I Nicator following the division of the empire created by Alexander the Great. Seleucus received Babylonia and, from there, expanded his dominions to include much of Alexander’s near eastern territories. The Greek population of the cities who formed the dominant elite were reinforced by emigration from Greece. Seleucid expansion into Anatolia and Greece was abruptly halted after decisive defeats at the hands of the Roman army. Their attempts to defeat their old enemy Ptolemaic Egypt were frustrated by Roman demands. Much of the eastern part of the empire was conquered by the Parthians under Mithridates I of Parthia in the mid-2nd century BC, yet the Seleucid kings continued to rule a rump state from the Seleukid Kingdom until the invasion by Armenian king Tigranes the Great and their ultimate overthrow by the Roman general Pompey. 9 c1850 American Coin Silver Bead Edge Elephant Snake Crest Dinner Forks
Presented is an antique set of 9 American coin silver dinner forks made during the early to mid 1800s. This 19th century set is done in a classic, Beaded Edge pattern. All of the forks have a finely hand engraved crest of an elephant with a snake or serpent wrapped around its trunk. This set is a matched marriage of 3 and 6 forks that are slightly different as far as the tip of the handle and crest goes, which you can see in the photographs. These forks are very heavy. The back of 3 handles are marked Freeman & Bennett and the other 6 are marked for Jones, Ball & Co. All are nitric acid tested and guaranteed to be 900 purity, coin purity silver. Jones Ball and Co. Of Boston was only in business from 1853 to 1855. This partnership changes several times before becoming Shreve, Crump and Low in the 1860s. I believe that Freeman and Bennett were based in Philadelphia and were in business in the 1830s. This set is in great condition for its age. The 3 Freeman & Bennett forks have wear and knife marks to their tines, as you can see in the first photograph. Powered by SixBit’s eCommerce Solution.

2016 Ivory Coast Loxodonta Africana Elephant Silver Antique Finish
The pictures of the coin were taken in a capsule, never opened. The coin is remarkable because of the magic design in high relief. Mintage at 1000 pieces. The coin is in perfect condition – marks and scratches come from dirt on the capsule and from unprofessional lighting. I will gradually list more coins.
