Malawi 2011 20 Kwacha Art of Hunting Elephant Silver Coin LIMIT ONLY 3000
Malawi 2011 20 Kwacha Art of Hunting Elephant Silver Coin LIMIT ONLY 3000. Malawi 2011 20 Kwacha Art of Hunting Elephant 28.28g silver coin!! Extremely low mintage limit, only 3,000!! + Certificate of Authenticity. The African elephant is the biggest land animal. It can measure 4 meters height and weighs between 7.5 8 tons. The difference between the African elephant and the Asian elephant is that the former has much bigger ears and a different head shape. There are two subspecies of the African Elephant: African savanna elephant and African bush elephant. The physiology of the African elephant is amazing. These elephants are said to be very intelligent animals. An elephants brain weighs about 6 000 g (about four times more than a human brain). This mighty giant has to eat about 400 kg of plant fare daily. His trunk the most versatile organ in the whole animal world is very useful while eating. It serves not only for reaching food but also for sniffing, touching things, making sounds and caressing. The elephant moves quickly (up to 40 km per hour), it treads silently and it steps unusually delicately on the tips of its fingers. The elephants skin is a very sensitive organ. Its tusks exceeding 3 meters in length and 100 kg each serve for digging up water holes, plucking trees with roots, and lifting and removing various obstacles. It is surprising that, just like human beings who are left- or right-handed, among elephants there are also specimens which prefer using their right or left tusk. Aside from loud blowing, elephants can also emit sounds which are inaudible for human beings low tones, infrasound, used to communicate at a distance of 3 kilometers. In the past the African Elephant inhabited the whole African territory. Today they can be encountered between the latitude of 12° north and 20° south. There are about 20 0000 specimens. The African Elephant lives in Sudan, East Africa and Congo. It can still be encountered in Rhodesia and it was almost completely killed off in the Republic of South Africa. Elephants are endangered species. Unfortunately, because of ivory and its value elephants are a constant target for poachers. Nowadays the African Elephant is protected by the Washington Convention (CITES) provisions. Obverse: At the top of the coin – an inscription in English: The Art of Hunting. Below – an image of a dog, pointer breed, in a hunting position. At the bottom – the face value 20 Kwacha, underneath it the mark of the mint (m/w), between the digits of the face value the national emblem of the Republic of Malawi. Underneath, the name of the issuer in English – Republic of Malawi. Reverse: At the top of the coin – an image of the African Bush Elephant presented in the pad printing technique. On the left side an image of two hunters. In the background – the landscape of a savannah with the Acacia trees, grass and a lake. 40,00 x 28,00mm. Nice Authentic add to your collection. Julius Caesar 49-48 BC Stunning Rare Denarius. War Elephant. Roman Silver Coin
Julius Caesar 49-48 BC Stunning Rare Denarius. AR Denarius (3.71g, 19mm, 5h). Military mint travelling with Caesar, 49-48 BC. Obv: Elephant advancing right, trampling on serpent; CAESAR in exergue. Rev: Emblems of the pontificate: simpulum, aspergillum, securis (surmounted by wolf’s head), and apex. Ref: Crawford 443/1; CRI 9; RSC 49. This coin is guaranteed for life to be a genuine ancient coin. Here at Ancient Auctions we have pledged to uphold the highest ethical standards. Gaius Julius Caesar Latin: CAIVS IVLIVS CAESAR, (13 July 100 BC – 15 March 44 BC), known as Julius Caesar, was a Roman politician, general, and notable author of Latin prose. He played a critical role in the events that led to the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. In 60 BC, Caesar, Crassus, and Pompey formed a political alliance that dominated Roman politics for several years. Their attempts to amass power as Populares were opposed by the Optimates within the Roman Senate, among them Cato the Younger with the frequent support of Cicero. Caesar’s victories in the Gallic Wars, completed by 51 BC, extended Rome’s territory to the English Channel and the Rhine. Caesar became the first Roman general to cross both the Channel and the Rhine, when he built a bridge across the Rhine and crossed the Channel to invade Britain. These achievements granted him unmatched military power and threatened to eclipse the standing of Pompey, who had realigned himself with the Senate after the death of Crassus in 53 BC. With the Gallic Wars concluded, the Senate ordered Caesar to step down from his military command and return to Rome. Caesar refused the order, and instead marked his defiance in 49 BC by crossing the Rubicon with the 13th Legion, leaving his province and illegally entering Roman Italy under arms. Civil war resulted, and Caesar’s victory in the war put him in an unrivalled position of power and influence. After assuming control of government, Caesar began a programme of social and governmental reforms, including the creation of the Julian calendar. He centralised the bureaucracy of the Republic and was eventually proclaimed “dictator in perpetuity”, giving him additional authority. But the underlying political conflicts had not been resolved, and on the Ides of March (15 March) 44 BC, Caesar was assassinated by a group of rebellious senators led by Marcus Junius Brutus. A new series of civil wars broke out, and the constitutional government of the Republic was never fully restored. Caesar’s adopted heir Octavian, later known as Augustus, rose to sole power after defeating his opponents in the civil war. Octavian set about solidifying his power, and the era of the Roman Empire began. Much of Caesar’s life is known from his own accounts of his military campaigns, and from other contemporary sources, mainly the letters and speeches of Cicero and the historical writings of Sallust. The later biographies of Caesar by Suetonius and Plutarch are also major sources. Caesar is considered by many historians to be one of the greatest military commanders in history. Since that time, the coin has been released on behalf of Somalia with new designs annually on the obverse, and the coat of arms on the reverse. The African Elephant is the worlds largest land mammal. For decades, elephants were hunted to the brink of extinction, due in large part to the value of the ivory in their tusks. Big Five In Africa, the big five game animals are the lion, leopard, rhinoceros (both black and white species), elephant, and Cape buffalo. The term big five game (usually capitalized or quoted as Big Five) was coined by big-game hunters and refers to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot. Subsequently the term was adopted by safari tour operators for marketing purposes. The term is used in most tourist and wildlife guides that discuss African wildlife safaris. The members of the Big Five were chosen for the difficulty in hunting them and the degree of danger involved, rather than their size. The big five are among the most dangerous, yet most popular species for big-game hunters to hunt. The 1990 and later releases of South African rand banknotes feature a different big-five animal on each denomination.
