This beautiful Silver coin is the second of the series High Relief Animals and is dedicated to the worlds largest land mammal, the Elephant. The coin is minted with high relief, has an Antique Finish quality and 1 Ounce weight. Limited mintage to 999 pieces. The coin’s reverse depicts few elephants, one of them in foreground, walking across the African Savana. In the background, a typical African vegetation. On the top of the reverse, the inscription: Elephant the name of the coin and on the bottom, the issue year: 2016. The coin’s obverse depicts the Coat of Arms of Tanzania and the face value: 1000 Shillings. Elephant The African Forest Elephant is the little brother of the more known Bush Elephant. As his name indicates he dwells in the jungle region of Western and Central Africa instead in the savannahs. The Bush Elephant may be the star of all the animal documentaries, and so only few people are aware of the existence and the critical status of the Forest Elephant population. Were are approximately half a million Bush Elephants all over Africa, but less than hundred thousand Forest Elephants, and the number is decreasing at an alarming rate due to the increasing numbers of poachers and due to civil wars and poverty. The Forest Elephant needs our help, and the first step is to make known his species and his problems to the world.
