Late Roman Republic (Imperatorial Period). Julius Caesar AR’elephant’ denarius. Military mint traveling with Caesar in Northern Italy, ca. VF; areas of weak strike, bankers’ mark. Design: Elephant walking right, trampling serpent; name of dictator (CAESAR) below / Roman pontifical emblems: culullus, aspergillum, securis, and apex. Dimensions: 20 mm / 3.51 gm.
